Inconsistencies in Augmented Reality Systems
Evaluating mismatches between AR/VR/MR interfaces and their corresponding interaction objects, and seeking computational solutions to improve them.

Researchers: Seokhee Jeon and Gerard J. Kim
One of our research thrusts is the evaluation of various aspects of VR/AR/MR interfaces. There are many cases where the interfaces and the corresponding interaction objects do not match in aspects such as interaction timing, view/interaction direction, and multimodal feedback — often due to lack of technology, inappropriate metaphor, or missing modality. In addition to evaluations, we seek computational solutions to improve these situations, such as assessing usability with regards to camera placement in a desktop AR setting and applying image warping or mosaicing techniques to allow cameras to be placed at user-convenient locations.
